The ancient pact between mankind, Heaven, and Hell has been broken. And this upstart wizard's quest for vengeance may have just kicked off Armageddon. So, time for a drink...or maybe two.
Already plagued with sinister night terrors that could qualify him as a card-carrying psychopathic insomniac, Nate can barely even manage to put his pants on in the morning, let alone pick teams for the Apocalypse. But when he's framed as a demon sympathizer, condemned by the Armies of Heaven, and hunted down by both his allies and the Four Horsemen, this wizard doesn't think it can get any worse. Then they take away his magic. And a wizard without magic stands no chance against the forces of Heaven and Hell....
Blood Debts Temple Chronicles Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Shayne Silvers Joel Richards Tantor Audio Books
Blood Debts (The Temple Chronicles #2) by Shayne Silvers is sooo awesome. Nate is some real trouble this time. The wizards take away his powers when he needs it most. Not only the normal crazy creatures of the night are after him but the super crazies are. The angels are after him because they think he killed one of their own. The wizards think this is a good time to off him and he is SOL, until .... well, this isn't a book report. So much action, suspense, snarky come backs, humor, and crazy situations keeps this book going out of control till the reader is giggling and having to much fun to want to see the end. But all good things do come to the end, unfortunately. Awesome.Product details

Blood Debts Temple Chronicles Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Shayne Silvers Joel Richards Tantor Audio Books Reviews
This tale of Nate Temple gets better and better. I just stayed up an entire night reading this exquisitely crafted tale of a new kind of Wizard, featuring nearly every kind of supernatural (feathered unicorns) but thankfully No Leprechauns. The soul-roasted marshmallows were a nice touch as was the description of Mardi Gras. More, please.
I gave the series 2 tries as I was looking for a new series to get immersed in since I'm done with Sookie and Mercy and Jane and Kate.
It drives me crazy when a character has crazy powers on 1 page then doesn't know how to use them on the next! I hated the "strong" women who wind up crying all the time. And Nate ? Immature , cartoonish, silly , unlikeable. The villans are cardboard cutoutish. Actually everyone is? Maybe turn this into an adult cartoon.
Silvers did it again. The series just keeps getting better. Fans of classical mythology will appreciate the references throughout the book--especially since they are not overly explained. I like the level of intelligence and literary familiarity assumed by the author. It's also funny--the kind of "snort back a chortle of laughter in the middle of the night so as to not awaken the sleeping spouse who might chide one for reading until the wee hours" kind of funny. The main character, Nathan Temple, has been the star of the first two books. I am hoping to find out more about all of remaining cast of characters in subsequent books--or books just about them. Well done. Silvers is on my auto-buy list.
I am in love with this series! The lead characters are insanely over the top and that contributes to the fun. Just what will the Author have Wizard Nate Temple do next! (Yes, author Shayne Silvers has a wild and wicked imagination, which suits me just fine.) I am a big fan of The Dresden Files and this series helps fill the gap for me while waiting for Jim Butcher's next installment. The pace is fast and furious (can you really cram that much into 3 days??? I guess it must be magic!), the writing witty and engaging, the lead character is arrogant, wise-cracking and yet has a moral compass that helps him stay the course and do the right thing even if it may mean your immanent death. This time he is dealing with zealous wizards, demons, angels, Pandora and the Horsemen... and quite possibly cause the apocalypse! The supporting cast is cool and adds to the story. There were a few typos in this book, but I've found typos in big name printed books as well. It is also clear that the author does his research into mythology and ancient history. So while the story may be crazy and intense, it is built on a solid foundation which makes this world feel real. If you want a wild, in-your-face ride through the supernatural world with a little intrigue, give this series a go. Things are not always as they seem. And that makes it even more enjoyable. Looking forward to the next book. Thank you Shane Silvers for another romp through the magical world of Nate Temple!
I was anxiously awaiting this book since I finished the first installment, borderline stalking the author's page for updates and counting down the days once the release date was announced. And I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed! The book certainly took turns I didn't expect. I thought it would cover more of the team dynamics of the people Nate brought together in the first book, but it was definitely interesting to see him in action on his own. (Though do take note, Mssr. Silvers, I would love to see that team come together!!)
Even though the story felt like it went from Nate And Pals, to Nate By Himself, the world it was set in broadened. More mythologies (and religions, depending on your belief in angels/demons) were introduced and woven into an already complex fabric. Even though it was set in the modern age, it fit well, and it was fun to see some of the ancient bad guys bemused by our technologies.
Without giving too much away, the ending was even more exciting in this second installment than even the first! I read the second half in a single day.
There were some typos in the story, and a few grammar errors that could have been tightened, however they did not detract too much from the story. The sudden extreme jealousy that Othello displays a little way in seemed out of character to me, though that could also be my general dislike for anything smacking of a love triangle. Beyond those minor points, however, I found the book immensely satisfying on all fronts, and I couldn't recommend it enough! I am definitely looking forward to book three!
I have never ever in a really long time had so much fun reading a series as I have this one! I love Nate Temple! Gets himself into trouble just being who he is! Blood Debt Nate got to learn what life was really like when you have no way of using magic. It was like a part of him was missing and he had no idea just how much he depended on being able to use magic to get into and out of trouble. His magic got taken away because he really pissed off the wrong group. They are those who should be helping out but seem to be there as I am better than you will ever be looking down their noses at you. Yah we all know those types right? I won't tell you why, or how it ends but boy you will be happily loving riding shotgun, with mixed up crazy misunderstand Nate Temple.
